Valentines Day with boyfriend up in the air ...?

I am starting to freak out a little bit and want to know if I am justified or not ...
My boyfriend is a freelance photographer and doesn't have a set schedule. He has been working for almost a month straight with maybe a day off here and there but I have hardly seen him. I was hoping that with Valentine's Day being tomorrow that we would actually spend some time together, but when I asked him what his schedule was like, he said he wouldn't know until today ... He is aware that tomorrow is Valentines Day but has put no effort in to making plans with me or even trying to spend time with me ... Am I right to be semi freaking out right now? Or should I just calm down?

It sounds like you are a plan-ahead person, and he is an on-the-fly person. This may sound like it's about Valentine's day, but it's actually about priorities.

You want him to carve out some real time for you, time that you can count on having with him.

He is probably very dedicated to his work, and knows that as a freelancer, he has to go when work calls. He is hesitant to pin down time with you because he would hate to be caught between you and work. He'd either lose out on his living, or make you disappointed.

Why not surprise him tomorrow? If he doesn't make plans, then maybe you can. Visit him at his work or home, and tell him where you're coming from. Let him know you enjoy his company, and you really miss him, but you're getting mixed signals, and need to know if he's super busy because work demands it, or if he's only so-so about the two of you. --Because that's the message he's sending.
