The story of Onam:
The origin of Onam is a story about the mythical King Mahabali. I think the people of Kerala, thousands of years before King Mahabali ruled Kerala. According to history, when he was governor, there was no poverty, hunger and people use to never lie. Since the reign of King Mahabali was so good, its spread name throughout the earth and sky. Thus, anger was the king of heaven, Lord Indra. He thought that if the name of Bali as it extends, which soon Mahabali lose heaven. So I asked the Lord Vishnu for help to protect Heaven, from Bali (which is a king Damon). Thus, Lord Vishnu made visit to King Mahabali as a Brahmin boy and pushed it to a place called Pathalam with his leg. (Pathalam is the underworld that Hinduism). However, before pushing on Pathalam, Lord Vishnu blessed Bali and allowed to visit Kerala once a year as the world exists. People of Kerala celebrate this day as Onam.
