Valentine Day Centerpieces

What do you do when a last minute get together is planned...at your house? Using inexpensive items and existing house wares, you can create beautiful accents, centerpieces and greenery for every room.
* In the kitchen, try filling various sized glass jars with nuts, pistachios, red peppermint candies or other Christmas candies and then place a tea light into the top. You've got a tea light holder that looks like it fits right in with the pies, casseroles and holiday cookies.
* If you have a large crystal vase, you can fill it during the holidays is with evergreen boughs. Place a few inches of water in the vase and add the boughs or use silk boughs which are hard to tell apart! Then take multi-colored glass ornaments, string them on satin ribbons of different colors and patterns and hang on the boughs. Voila! Instant "Christmas Tree" that can be placed on a buffet table or any room that needs that extra greenery.
* If you like to display your Christmas cards, a great festive and inexpensive way to do this is with candy cane stands. Take three candy canes, turn upside down (curve pointing down) and arrange them in a "tripod" manner. Tie them together in this position with twine, silk ribbon or gift wrap ribbon. Prop your card on two of the curved ends and the third one will act as a leg. You can prop these cards all over the house to give any room instant holiday cheer!
* For your table setting, think of adding a holiday floral spray with sparkling or pearlescent berries to your napkin rings...or fold your napkins in an artistic fashion and add the spray to a fold in the napkin. This adds a special touch and texture to the smooth plates, glasses and silverware. Tying a ribbon around the napkin or the base of a wine glass, also makes for a festive touch.
* Don't forget audio "decoration"! Play Christmas music during your gathering to complete the mood. If you have talkative and loud party guests, try a Christmas instrumental CD. If your crowd is a bit more subdued, try an upbeat selection of Christmas favorites. Of course, when the mood is right, a sing-a-long may be the right answer.
You don't have to overdo it, just place a few items in rooms where guests will gather to accent your existing Christmas décor. Adding holiday pieces to your normal décor and place settings give your home a welcoming and festive environment without seeming to "done up".
Ideas for romantic wedding reception decor?
I'm stuck trying to figure out some centerpiece ideas. I'm getting married the day before Valentine's Day & am wanting it to be very romantic to tie in with that. My colors are red and white. I don't want any flowers for the centerpieces. I can use candles, but they have to be smokeless (not the battery operated ones -- i don't really care for those). On the tables, I'll have a disposable camera, a candy dish with cinnamon red hearts, but no ideas for a centerpiece.
Also, I'd like to incorporate chocolate covered strawberries somehow. I'm having a sit down dinner so there won't be any food/drink stations to put any. Also, I don't want a fondue fountain as I've read those can be messy.
Any ideas & suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!
When I think of romantic, I think of dark with candles and rose petals. Maybe for your centerpieces scatter rose petals all over the table, then have like a glass serving dish of some sort with the chocolate covered strawberries in the middle of the table so everyone can grab one, with candles around the outside! Add some red and white stones maybe with a mirror under the serving dish?
The thing I really want for my wedding is red lights underneath each reception table so it shines through the table cloth.. but the local company that does that is $50 a table.. and I have 30 tables! SO I am just doing that for the head table. I think that would be romantic!
