The tradition of Valentine's Day with its Hallmark fueled frenzy has taken its own life. Studies show that many people, especially men hate Valentine's Day. This is particularly true for men who feel they can not get a handle on what is expected them during this period. The traditions that are mechanically add stress, guilt and depression to relationship trying to find balance. This can sometimes make us feel isolated from the masses. Let's be honest. Assuming that Valentine's Day to hatred is like saying you hate puppies and warm fuzzy kittens.
Remember Valentine's one of my colleagues came to my office in a Huff. He laughed, waving his arms wide in a gesture of frustration. His eyes rolled back in his head, moaning: "You know, I have 42 pieces of red clothing on women today?" You know the type, red blouses, earrings little used to celebrate the day. He was clearly exasperated by all. "Why do women do this kind of thing anyway?"
I smiled and dropped into a chair. "What is the real problem, Dennis? "I do not understand not, he said, "You know you can not win for her. She says it means nothing, but you know, if I do not get something that I hear never the end of it. And the worst thing I have to get something bigger and better every year, they hope! "
No thought has was the best time to tell you that for some women, is probably one of the few times in a year that they can rely on some form validation. A time when someone openly says they are special, loved and cherished. Some women and men need to hear and see words on paper, others not. This difference is based on expectations.
Their expectations for Valentine is generally based on the celebrations childhood, which was placed in the day. This is taken home daily by media messages "to show that their attention, give one ... fill the void. "We know that Valentine may add to our loneliness and depression, if we're in a relationship, because it reminds us we are alone in the world. No image in the mirror, anyone to validate what we are, make us feel special.
In addition, when we are in a relationship that is all these things we have to do to take care of each other. As my colleague above, it feels like a no-win situation. As the relationship develops, the creation of small traditions of our own, there is less need to be validated in this way. But only when we consider something special to stop trying to show others that our fundamental beauty. The love that we really are inside, in our own kernel, and not outside us.
Feeling that someone should buy candy, roses or romantic gifts is far from romantic to the buyer or recipient. Even so, buying a gift that means little routine for the sender or recipient has no meaning unless it is part of a belief system that feeds on children. So do some of their discussions, how to get to know each other. If you do not see yourself, then it will be better than that forward.
People often feel guilty and stressed when they do not live up to the expectations of another romantic idealized. Planning romantic moments together can be fun, energetic and strengthen the relationship. That said, its fun if you share idealized expectations. This should not be expensive trips and may find creative ways to escape the kids for a few hours. There are several ways to show the love that costs nothing. Love notes placed on a clean shirt, unexpected phone calls to tell them he thought to himself, the list is endless.
What helps is to know where the fault comes to discuss this and honestly with your loved one. If you do not like Valentine's Day, but It is important that the other person, ask yourself what is necessary to get there. Could you live with that? Can you find another way to show you care? So what makes people feel loved? A better question would be: "how we learned to feel loved? "This is different for everyone. • Gratitude help, what your partner to the relationship that keeps you around? Request know that these things are important to you.
• Talk to others! The tradition of Valentine's Day may not be all that is important to you. If yes, could be expressed in a form acceptable to both? Share your thoughts, desires and needs. What do you live?
Besides all this feigned sugary sweetness is the opposite of true love. From the perspective of the relationship, love is a life of give and take. Love is always alone. Love needs nothing in the eye of the beholder. When we deeply loved, you can feel the power of love that radiates outward and return from the heart. Valentine's Gift Aid?
My boyfriend of 5 months and I are going to Los Angeles, California, for Valentine's Day (live in North Carolina). Collects the bill for the whole journey, and I'm sure I'm going to V-Day dinner. It is likely that he will bring me a gift too. He is a leader and he knows he can not cook really.
